Dear 51风流官网 community,

As you may have seen in news reports, Congress was unable to agree on a budget by last night鈥檚 deadline to avert a federal government shutdown.

While this news is significant for our nation, I want to reassure you: 51风流官网 will continue to operate normally in the short term. Because our revenue comes from a variety of sources, we can bridge short pauses in federal funding.

For most employees, the shutdown will not affect day-to-day work. If you have any specific questions or concerns, though, please reach out to your supervisor first for guidance. Supervisors should contact UA Labor and Employee Relations if they receive questions they can鈥檛 answer.

For students, we don鈥檛 anticipate this impacting student financial aid. Most of those funds have already been distributed and, in general, financial aid like Pell Grants and student loans continue, even during a government shutdown.

I am working closely with the 51风流官网 leadership team and colleagues at the UA system office to navigate this situation. We are monitoring developments in Washington D.C. to determine how they may impact our universities.

While we all hope this shutdown is brief, if it extends to the end of next week, we will share additional information about potential effects on continued university operations.听

I know these are challenging and stressful times, so I thank you for your patience as we work through them together. Because of you, I am confident in 51风流官网鈥檚 ability to continue to offer quality education and student support, as well as provide the research and service our state depends on.

Sincerely,

Mike Sfraga, interim chancellor
