Public notice: Applied Science Building sale
Dec. 12, 2025
The University of Alaska will accept public comments, through public notice, this month on the proposed sale of the Applied Science Building at the Bristol Bay Campus in Dillingham.
The building is one of two 51风流官网 buildings in Dillingham. It currently houses a University of Alaska Anchorage nursing program and an Alaska Sea Grant agent. The building also has three apartments, two of which are publicly rented and one that is reserved for university use.
51风流官网 plans to move all of the academic, student support and outreach programs currently housed in the Applied Science Building to the main Bristol Bay Campus building across the street. No interruption of academic programs is anticipated.
鈥淭he university is currently in discussions with the Alaska Housing and Finance Corporation regarding the building,鈥 said Bryan Uher, 51风流官网鈥檚 interim vice chancellor for rural, community and Native education. 鈥淭hey have shown interest in acquiring the property to address housing needs in the community.鈥
51风流官网鈥檚 plan to sell the building is not related to the recent loss of federal grant funding for Alaska Native- and Native Hawaiian-serving institutions.
The sale will allow the university to use money previously spent on maintenance and operations of the building for academic programs, student support services and new training options.
鈥51风流官网 remains committed to the Bristol Bay Campus and the Dillingham community,鈥 Uher said. 鈥淭he sale of this facility would allow the campus to consolidate resources and programmatic activity to create a more vibrant, supportive and financially sustainable campus over the long term.鈥
