There are many Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) training and workshops offered online through the  to help increase your knowledge and understanding of the basic principles and core concepts in the ADA and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA).

51风流官网's  offers a wide variety of training, assistance, and resources to instructors teaching through eCampus. Instructors who are creating instructional video and would like assistance with captioning their content using 3Play Media or assistance with a professional captioning service can contact eLearning. Faculty and instructors from across 51风流官网, CTC, and CRCD, including adjuncts and TAs, are eligible for this assistance.

51风流官网 eCampus offers short and long-form  for teachers across 51风流官网. Start with The Basics, learning about Blackboard and the foundations of online learning, Grow your Practice by learning from faculty colleagues and designers, and then contribute by working with others in a long-form program.  is a free online course (with option to earn a certificate for $99) offered by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE). This training covers the fundamentals of web accessibility, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (51风流官网 websites must meet a minimum of  WCAG2AA accessibility compliance), how to check web pages for accessibility and how to fix issues identified. It is suitable for technical and non-technical learners, students/instructors/professionals, and allows you to focus on the topics that are most applicable to your needs.

Volunteers:

Departments will complete the  and preserve the completion certificate with the checklist. 

All volunteers  are required to complete 鈥淯A Safe Title IX Training鈥 prior to their volunteer service. 

Non-UA employees and noncredentialed individuals: 

Sponsoring departments preserve the completion certificate. New employee hires have 30 days to complete training and do not fall under this category.

Access to Blackboard

  1. The UA department sponsoring a non-UA employee, volunteer, or otherwise noncredentialed individual must complete the account request/sponsor form and submit it to the OIT Support Desk. Make sure all signatures are completed and the 鈥51风流官网 Blackboard鈥 box under the access section is checked.
  2. OIT will notify the user once the request is completed.
  3. Individuals can then log in to  (Blackboard) and access the "" under "My Courses" on the UA Learn landing page after logging in. 
  4. Once the course is completed, a certificate can be printed and provided to the sponsoring department. Ensure all slides are clicked through to the very end, otherwise a certificate will not be generated.
The Title IX training cycle starts July 1  and ends October 31, each year. New employees must complete training within 30 days of hire.
  • Students:
    Annually, all degree-seeking students, which includes certificate, associate, bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚, and Ph.D. as well as students living in campus housing, online students, middle college students enrolled at the university or on national/international exchange.
  • Employees:
    As outlined in the 51风流官网 Chancellor's training policy, all 51风流官网 employees must complete training within 30 days of hire. After the initial training is completed, a Title IX training update is required annually within the defined training cycle.
  • Volunteers: 
    All volunteers are required to complete Title IX training prior to their volunteer service. (see access details in the "technical issues" FAQ below)

Contact the Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability (ORCA) at uaf-orca@alaska.edu or by phone at 907-474-7300 to notify them of the challenges you have with the internet. ORCA will provide you access to training via jump drive or other means.
  • Students:
    Students who do not complete the training by the deadline will have a Priority Registration Hold placed on their account. The registration hold will stay on the students鈥 account for the two weeks of priority registration and will be removed once the required training is complete or once the two-week priority registration period is over, whichever comes first.
  • Employees:
    As outlined in the Chancellor's Policy on training, supervisors are required to ensure compliance with required training and address an untrained individual's performance within the employee's performance evaluation. The Title IX Coordinator provides training reports to unit leadership (at a minimum) weekly during the last month of the training cycle.

You must still complete training through the University of Alaska (UA). UA is required to train individuals on UA- specific policies and procedures, notify individuals of VAWA and Clery information, as well as provide information on resources available at each university (51风流官网, UAA, UAS). This is different from the training and required processes individuals are trained on elsewhere.

The Nanook Diversity and Action Center provides the 51风流官网's  which teaches strategies to prevent violence based on empowering bystanders. Attendees will learn to recognize potentially harmful situations and how to safely intervene.

UA Human Resources' Labor and Employee Engagement Office provides on monthly topics, series, and through in-person and on-demand self-lead modalities to employees. Other training can be located through the in the learning library.

Nanook Diversity and Action Center provide QPR (question, persuade, refer) training which teaches three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide by understanding how to recognize warning signs, ask questions, provide hope, and get help.

Safe Zone training provided by Nanook Diversity and Action Center isn鈥檛 meant to change a particular space, but to provide the knowledge and skills to individuals invested in creating safe and affirming environments wherever they go.

34 CFR 106 requires all materials used to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process must have their training materials publicly available on the Title IX website, or must make these materials available upon request for inspection by members of the public.
