Parent and Family Orientation

11 a.m.—5 p.m. Alaska time		Orientation Check In Location: Wood Center Mall Stop by the Orientation Check-In table to receive your nametag, bag and free t-shirt. Students and guests will both check in at this location.
11 a.m.—5 p.m. Alaska time		Campus Tours Location: Wood Center Mall Tours will depart every hour, on the hour, from the Wood Center mall. The final tour will depart at 4 p.m.
1—3 p.m. Alaska time		Drop-In Transfer Credit Evaluation Location: Wood Center Conference Room Wondering how your previous coursework transfers to 51��? Drop in to our Transfer Credit Evaluation Session to speak one-on-one with a transfer credit evaluator and make sure your credits are being applied correctly. Please note: this session is focused on transfer credit evaluations and does not include course advising or registration assistance.
1—5 p.m. Alaska time		DVMS Open House Location: Rasmuson 404 Are you a military or veteran student planning to use your GI Bill benefits at 51��? Join us for an informative presentation designed to help you understand how to access and use your VA education benefits. This session will cover the basics of GI Bill eligibility, the certification process, timelines, and what to expect throughout your academic journey.
3—4 p.m. Alaska time		Earning While Learning - How to Get a Student Job Location: Wood Center Ballroom Student jobs offer income, career skills, networking, real-world experience, and flexible hours that fit around class schedules. Attend this session to discover on-campus job opportunities, learn how to apply, and see how Career Services can support your success.
4—5 p.m. Alaska time		Get Involved! Location: Wood Center Ballroom Get Involved! is your guide to campus events, student clubs, and ways to connect through Nanook Engage. Learn how to find opportunities that match your interests and start building your 51�� community from day one.
5—7 p.m. Alaska time		Dinner Location: Dine49 Grab a bite to eat. Make sure you have your meal ticket handy to cover the cost of your meal.

9—10:30 a.m. Alaska time		Resource Fair Location: Wood Center Mall Meet the offices and programs at 51�� that will help you achieve your academic and personal goals.
10:30 a.m.—12 p.m. Alaska time		Orientation Welcome Location: Wood Center Ballroom Start your 51�� journey at Orientation Kickoff, where you'll hear from university leadership, be welcomed by your academic college, and connect with your orientation group. This is your first step into campus life—don’t miss it!
12—1 p.m. Alaska time		Parent & Family Lunch Location: Dine49 Grab a bite to eat. Make sure you have your meal ticket handy to cover the cost of your meal.
1—2:30 p.m. Alaska time		Student Safety & Support Location: Wood Center Conference Room 51�� takes your student’s safety seriously. Find out how we support your student’s physical and mental health and safety during their time on campus. Hear from the 51�� Police Department, Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability, Student Health and Counseling Center, and Disability Services.
2:30—3:45 p.m. Alaska time		Life On Campus Location: Wood Center Conference Room Interested in how your student can be an active member of our campus community? Learn more about student life and involvement at this panel featuring the Center for Student Engagement, Department of Residence Life, Dining, and Nanook Recreation, and Career Services.
3:45—5 p.m. Alaska time		Partnering for Student Success Location: Wood Center Conference Room Learn ways to partner with the university to ensure your student’s success. Hear from the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar, the Office of the Bursar, Nanook Advising, Career Services, and Rural Student Services.
5—7 p.m. Alaska time		Dinner Location: Dine49 Grab a bite to eat. Make sure you have your meal ticket handy to cover the cost of your meal.
